Okay, Krysty, here it is! =)
Los Angeles. The city of dreams, glitz and glamour. The city that so many people flock to, in hopes of achieving their greatest hopes and dreams. So many people that are completely unaware that there's another world, lurking just beneath the surface, hidden right under their noses, in the darkness. A world that no mortal could imagine, and couldn't understand if they were to accidentally stumble upon it. A world full of immortal creatures, a world full of ancient old magic. A dangerous world where anything can, and does, happen. Things that even Hollywood couldn't conjure up in their greatest dreams. Or rather, worst nightmares, might be more fitting. This is a world full of creatures that lurk in the shadows, that shy away from humans, yet live alongside them every day. That are more powerful than any human could ever dream of being. These creatures are unique, even among their own kind.
Hidden in the darkness lurks a race known as vampires. But these vampires aren't like the creatures Bram Stoker created, there's only a few similarities. The world Bram created only consisted of one type of vampire. In reality, there are several types of vampires, each with their own specialties, strengths and weaknesses. Each race of vampire is different from the other. Some are more humane than others, some are more sinister, while others are more social and some are more reclusive. Some love living among humans, while others hate humans with a passion and see them as nothing more than a food source. Some of the vampire races are rivals, and some are allies. But one thing they all have in common: the Masquerade. This Masquerade has been in place for centuries, it was created several thousand years ago, when a group of humans learned about the vampire race and banded together to destroy them. At the time, the vampire race was much smaller than the human race. And while vampires are much stronger than humans, they were outnumbered and often ambushed. The vampire population nearly became extinct during these dark years, and that was when the Masquerade was created, to protect what was left of the vampire population and to help rebuild their community. The main law was to not reveal their true nature in front of human eyes, and anyone found to be violating this law was dealt with harshly.
The Masquerade eventually led to the creation of vampire societies, known as Covens. The original was the Camerilla. The Camerilla began by telling their vampires that their goal was to unite all vampire races under one coven. To help dissolve old wars between the races and to protect all vampires. Overall, the Camerilla claimed all vampires as members automatically. Sounds good, right? Except, things didn't go exactly as they were supposed to. The Camerilla became power hungry, those in charge wanted to keep others beneath their thumbs, creating strict rules and enforcing them with sometimes brutal force. Even the smallest crimes were punished harshly. This eventually led to another Coven being formed, by the rebels. By the vampires that didn't want to live out their eternities under such strict conditions. This Coven came to be known as the Anarchs. The Anarchs agreed with the Masquerade, and prefer to live out their lives peacefully among humans.
While the Camerilla reigns control over the majority of the world, there are little pockets that the Anarchs have claimed as their own. Until recently, Los Angeles was one of those cities. Unfortunately, a war between the Anarchs and the Kuei-Jin, a mysterious group of vampires, left the Anarchs damaged and weakened. It was during this fragile time that the Camerilla swooped in and 'claimed' the city. But that doesn't mean the Anarchs are giving up without a fight. The Camerilla has their hands full if they wish to hold onto the city. Not only are they directly in the middle of a war between the Anarchs and the Kuei, and having the Anarchs rallying to reclaim the city, but there's also another Coven in town. The Sabbot. The Sabbot are cruel, merciless vampires that hate any beings not on their side, and also vying for control over the city.
And, as if that wasn't enough, there are more than vampires lurking in the shadows. There are also werewolves. Werewolves are an unpredictable race. Some of them hate vampires with a passion and see them as mortal enemies. While other werewolves are actually allies with vampires, some of them even working as bodyguards for the vampires, especially during the daylight hours when they are the most vulnerable.
And then there are the slayers. Slayers were created to protect humankind from the evil creatures that would otherwise pry on them. However over the past centuries, slayers have came to realize that not all non-human are evil. As the Covens and Masquerade were created, the slayers slowly began to realize that the vampires did have some humanity left within them after all. Most slayers are still weary of these creatures, but a few are on good terms with them, some even working side by side with them against the evil creatures they have in common. The slayer world is actually in a bit of chaos itself recently. There has only ever been 12 slayers at any given time, since the first slayer was discovered. No slayer has ever lived past the age of 26. It's as if the slayers are cursed to die before reaching their 26th birthday.
Three months ago, another slayer was discovered, making for a grand total of 13 slayers. The 13th slayer is only recently coming into her powers and trying to figure out who and what she is. The oldest of the existing slayers is a woman by the name of Xandralexia, who is just weeks away from her 26th birthday. She's also the youngest slayer to ever come into her powers, at the young age of 5. It's never been heard of there being 13 slayers at once, and this is causing a lot of rumors to be spread, circulating around an old prophecy that has recently began to surface. The 13th slayer is now the target of the Camerilla, Sabbot and Kuei-Jin, who are all determined to terminate her before she can become a threat.
Welcome to the greatest war known in supernatural history.
The Clans:
Brujah: The Brujah race is known for their physical strength. They are stronger than even their fellow vampires and are excellent fighters in hand to hand combat. Their physical strength and fighting skills are their greatest strength. Their quick tempers and habit of jumping into things head first without fully knowing what they are getting themselves into is their greatest weakness. Despite their short tempers, Brujah are one of the more humane races, and will often go out of their way to protect those weaker than them and have a strong sense of loyalty. It was the Brujah that created the Anarch Coven.
Tremere: The Tremere are one of the more mysterious of vampire races. Their greatest strength is their blood magic. It was this clan that the witch race was born, when a Tremere had a child with a human. The Tremere blood magic is old and ancient, and quite dangerous. The mysteries of this magic is only shared with those of the race. Their greatest weakness is that they are not very physically strong and rely a bit too much on their magic to protect them.
Toreador: The most humane and gentle of the vampire clans. The Toreador race loves humans, and prefer to interact with them as often aspossible. They find the human race intriguing and often have a lot of human friends. They also love any form of art and music, and are very sophisticated people overall. The Toreador's humanity is both their greatest strength and weakness.
Gangrel: The most reclusive of the vampire races. Gangrels tend to be loners and shy away from largely populated areas. They prefer to leave in nature, alone, and without even the company of their fellow Gangrels. They are very private and become restless if they stay in one place for too long. They also become almost claustrophobic if they are trapped around a large group of people or in small spaces for long periods of time. Gangrels love animals, however and often have animal companions with them. Their strength is that they are good fighters, and their weakness is that tend to be very territorial and possessive, and this usually leads to them getting into trouble.
Venture: The natural born leaders. Those of the Venture clan often like to take charge and lead others. They are good at making the right decisions and think fast on their feet. They have a 'head for business' so to speak. It was the Venture that created the Camerilla Coven, and are the main ones that run it. They are both hated and loved for this fact. Venture tend to be snotty and look down on the other races, even if they are too 'politically correct' to admit this to their face, it is obvious in their actions. Ventures love to be in charge and hate having others telling them what to do. Venture are most commonly referred to as a 'royals' of the vampire world. Their strength is their ability to lead but their weakness is their stubbornness and unwillingness to listen to other's ideas.. even if the other person is right.
Nosferatu: The most mysterious vampire race of them all. The Nosferatu clan is cursed by their blood, which twists their features into a mask so unlike anything human that they have to hide deep in the shadows. It was from this race that the silent movie, Nosferatu, was based upon, when the writer accidentally came into contact with a member of the race. Because they are forced to live in the shadows, they have became masters in stealth. They know their way around the tunnels beneath the streets better than anyone, and can sneak in and out of even the most protect areas. There isn't a secret that came be kept hidden from them. The Nosferatu often keep to themselves and only live among other Nosferatus, however they can be bartered with from time to time to trade information for something. Their greatest strength is their stealth, but their greatest weakness is their lack of social skills. There are a few ways for a Nosferatu to regain their human appearance, but it is rare and hard to accomplish.
Malkavian: Malkavians are a strange race. They are considered to be insane by other vampire races, because of their cryptic words and strange behavior. In reality, they aren't insane at all. The problem is that they are, quite literally, too aware of things. Their strength is that they are clairvoyant. Sometimes this power comes in the form of dreams or nightmares, sometimes it comes in the form of a voice in their head or flashes that appear in their heads when they are wide awake. Sometime they refer to 'voices' which is really the thoughts of another person that they can overhear. Only the strongest of Malkavians can get into another being's head, however. Their strength is that they can tap into the world around them and find out anything about anyone. Their weakness is that they sometimes have trouble telling dreams from reality, and aren't very physically strong.
Tzimisce: The most cruel race of vampires to ever exist. The Tzimisce race are as inhumane and sinister as they come. They love to cause pain and suffering in others, and hate all other races. They see the other vampire races as being weak for not fully embracing their dark nature and using it to it's full potential. They see humans as weaklings, and nothing more than a food source, or perhaps entertainment. Their dark nature has allowed their vampire blood to take over and twist their features into something that could never be considered human, yet even more sinister than the Nosferatu race. Tzimisce can hide their true appearance beneath a human mask, although most prefer to flaunt their true nature and only take on a human appearance when they must. They can come across as polite, intelligent, and overall friendly when they wish to trick people into trusting them. But in reality, it is simply a fake front to lure innocent people into their trap. Their strengths are their dark, acid magic, and their lack of compassion. They are also extremely, physically strong in their true forms. Their weakness is that they are very arrogant and often underestimate their opponents.
Assamite: The Assamite race is a very secretive bunch. They are known for being anything from guardians and protectors, to feared assassins. It simply depends on the path the Assamite decides to take. All Assamites are excellent fighters and trackers and are someone you would much rather have on your side than hunting after you. When an Assamite is good, there is no greater guardian to have. But an Assamite that has decided to take the assassin road is one to be feared. Their greatest weakness is their fighting abilities, and their greatest weakness is either their sense of duty and putting others first. Or, if the Assamite has gave in to the darkness within them, their weakness is their arrogance and how they underestimate their enemies. One thing that makes Assamites unique from the other races is that they are bound by their promises. If an Assamite makes a promise, they are bound to keep it by any means necessary. This is what makes them such loyal guardians when they choose to be, once they decide to protect someone, they will do anything to keep that person safe.
Cappadocian: An extinct race that was wiped out about three hundred years ago. This race was the darkest of the vampire races, specializing in uncovering the mysterious between life and death. Their strength was their smarts, and their very dark magic. Their weakness was that they didn't focus enough on their physical strengths and were thereby unable to defend themselves against their enemies when they attacked.
